John Gibbs received his B.F.A. from the University of Michigan and continued
his studies in Florence, Italy. Since moving to Chicago in 1999, he has
developed a style that expresses a spontaneous, subjective experience,
rather than a rational, realistic interpretation. John's paintings play
on the subtle alteration of lines and color planes, exploring the boundaries
of reality and representation. Through this abstraction, he searches for
the meaning of his style of existence within the context of an indifferent
universe.
